About

Our Historic Bed & Breakfast

Napoleon's Retreat is a three-story home painted a sunny, eye-catching yellow. Since the inn is in a national historic district, signs are not allowed. There's a “Napoleon’s Retreat” plaque next to our front door. Parking is on-street and not metered.

There are 8 restaurants within 2 blocks of the inn, including 1111 Mississippi and Bailey’s Chocolate Bar. Lafayette Square has the largest collection of Victorian-era homes in the nation. Located in the center of the neighborhood is picturesque Lafayette Park, perfect for a morning jog or an evening stroll.

St. Louis will be at your front door during your stay. We're 1 mile away from the Arch, convention center, Busch Stadium,
Botanical Gardens, and Anheuser-Busch Budweiser plant. Just 3 miles west is Forest Park, where the Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum and Muny are located.

Check out the Visitor's Guide on our website for a map of St. Louis attractions and restaurants!

Breakfast at your convenience

Start your day with a continental breakfast consisting of fruit, juice, yogurt, granola, and a baked good placed in the refrigerator in your room before your arrival. A Keurig coffeemaker is available for early coffee or tea. Special dietary needs can usually be met with 72-hour advance notice.

Greetings from your innkeepers!

We're Stacy & Brian Kistler, the owners and innkeepers of Napoleon's Retreat since 2011. We relocated to Saint Louis in 2007. For over a decade, we've stayed at B&Bs throughout the world. Our "research" as guests has provided us with ideas of what we would like to offer at our B&B.

Our coworkers Delilah and Gus are delighted to receive any attention. These 20-lb terriers reside in our private quarters and do not enter guests' rooms, as we strive to maintain an allergy-free inn. As part of this policy, we cannot accommodate guests' pets.
